Contributors play a big role in our publication as we value these experts for their experiences and know-how. As a business playbook, we cover a wide range of topics that are vital to decision-making for leaders.
As every author and editor is different, we are focused on getting out the best published work and may have differing processes. However, the following generally apply:
Theme
There is a theme for every publication issue, but not all sections adhere—the editorial team will engage with you on developing the idea before proceeding for article development.
Word Count
We’ve hit the sweet spot for our article length and look forward to between 800–1,000 words per story, unless specified otherwise.
Editorial Value
Articles contributed must be based on personal perspectives and expertise.
Original vs. AI
We trust that your work is original and all citations are genuine. Kindly provide all reference sources for our fact-checking purposes. In the age of AI, we are fully aware that contributors may use these tools for brainstorming purposes. As ethical and legal navigation are constantly evolving around AI, we ask for our contributors to forthrightly declare the use of AI in their work.
Images
We highly encourage contributors to include relevant charts/figures/infographic-driven content to support their articles.
Crediting
We require a short 100-word profile of the author’s profession and a high-resolution image (at least 2MB).
Editorial Rights
The SmartInvestor retains the final decision rights on headlines, art direction, images and writing style. The article will be edited without prior notification and is privy to the magazine. However, we are obligated to remain true to facts and accuracy through verification with the contributor and sources.
Contributors may be required to do multiple rounds of revisions to suit the publication’s style and standards.
We also reserve the rights to publish the story or otherwise including to which platform (print, digital or both).
You may be required to sign a Copyrights form with us.
